CREATING TEAM SPIRIT

Hi fans, Before we continue with the Rest of the Heroes, lets take a break and talk about the teams. We created 12 teams (6 in each class) with an average of 12 in each team in the first week. This was to enable us manage the large class better. Each team nominated a leader  and gave themselves a name. That was assignment no. 1. By week 5, their assignment was to go home and sketch how each member of a team wanted their logo to look like. Those that came back with ideas got the prize while we got the task of merging all their ideas into one logo for each team! Not easy i tell you but i think the results are cool. So, we present to you the logos for each team (there are 13 logos in all because we formed an additional team for new boys by week 9). Please note: we took no liberties. All elements in the designs were those of the boys. Some are direct traces (like Destiny Kids lion, the Dragon team's dragon, Zion's text. Their by-line is also original. Same goes for Me &You team-those arms were traced off the original and that byline is all theirs) because we wanted it to be theirs only. They all approved their logos as the true spirit of their teams
All logos are trademarked property of gpan ltd. Please do comment on each design.

HEROES- SET 3

STONEWALL

TERO

TINAKANA

VEX

WATERLIN

These are the last of the winners. Let me explain again- we got the kids to compete against each other from opposing teams to draw their super hero alter egos on large A2 sheets stuck to the wall. It was crazy wild fun!The ones that drew the biggest (strongest looking) or the ones that got most votes won. Agreed, there were some political wins (LEGEND was drawn by a handsome and very popular deaf and dumb boy : ) ) but many where actually better looking. Nevertheless, we will start with the rest of the heroes soon.I think i should post the list of competitors so maybe you get to choose yourselves eh? Will do.

PAUSE

I need to include here a link on how to judge children's art. http://emptyeasel.com/2006/11/18/how-to-judge-art-five-qualities-you-can-critique/

A clue is to keep an open mind and recognize effort. That alone, everyone wins because the point of CESA is that everyone must make an attempt. Its all GOOD : ))

CESA PROJECT I works

CESA -Creative Expression with Sequential Art is an initiative by gpan educational to encourage children to express themselves with comic book art. The first program CESA PROJECT I took place in the summer 2010. 12 weekends of  storytelling with sequential art.
We are going to display the works in the following order-
1. Heroes gallery-each child is encouraged to adopt an alias, define his super powers and draw himself. The interesting part was when they competed in twos to draw the biggest baddest strongest super guy! Off course some drawings are better than others but all equally interesting. Psychologically, the children create a representation of himself and that makes everyone who tries a winner. Oh-yes i gave them a hint the week before with examples of superheroes-Xmen and Justice League and some of the children had very good memories : )
.
I have about 120 Heroes so its going to take a while to display everything. Patience Please.
